The assurance is heartwarming. The abundant giving is mentioned first, preceded only by mention of the Giver. The restriction in provision appears at the very end of the phrase, followed by mention of Allah’s Will and specific application of this verse to ‘His salves’.

He loves us for who we are. We seek abundance naturally. Shun restriction naturally. We call out to Al Basit, but not to Al Qaabid. But wisdom demands otherwise.

How does one appreciate light, without darkness? How does one appreciate rain without drought? Wealth without poverty? Security without fear? Ilm without ignorance? How does one appreciate abundance without restriction?

Interestingly the verse has a specific appl

‘My father is asking for you – Her modesty was not only in the way she was walking (‘shyly’) but in her choice of words to extend the invitation. ‘My father is asking for you’, she made it clear that the invitation was from her father. She distances herself from the invitation and removes herself from the equation. Implicit in her invitation is the presence of her wali behind her - any possible whispers from shaytan of her vulnerability and a young man’s opportunity to exploit are removed just like that, by a few words. Her haya is holistic – she kept the flock back while ‘a group of men’ were watering theirs, she walked ‘shyly’ towards Musa and extended an invitation with carefully chosen w

This verse in and of itself is a blessing, a mercy from Ar Raheem. After mentioning an act no human can do (i.e., count the blessings of Allah), Allah the Most High is saying that He forgives us for this shortcoming. Had Allah not mentioned His name Al Gafoor and His attribute of constant forgiveness and affirmed it with not one but two emphases ('indeed, without doubt the Oft-Forgoving'), the reader may be left with a feeling of inadequacy, of not being enough. It is from Allah's blessings that He brings the verse full circle as if He were saying - here is something you will never be able to do, but you are forgiven for this shortcoming, this impossible task of counting Allah's blessings an

How are people 'tampering with God’s creation' nowadays? -This comes as a promise from Shaytaan that he will make people do this. The example specified here refers to arguable mutilation of animals as form of superstition. The phrasing here to me immediately brings my thoughts to tampering biologically: --Animal captivity, testing, cross-breeding and mutation goes against the nature with which Allah created animals. Exposure to unsafe chemicals leads to an unnatural lifestyles and cross-breeding interferes with natural reproduction. Over time, this changes animal behaviors and turns them away from the original life and purpose they had in the wild. Scientists here are tampering wit

Assalamualaikum, It has been a year now since I feel distant from Islam. I am 18 years old. When I was just in 3rd grade, I started praying on my own. There were'nt many people who used to pray eventhough we are a muslim family. It was also the time I started doing hijab. Years passed by and each day, I become closer to Islam. When I was in grade 6, I started asking questions about soul, my own self and existence. Someday I used to feel to overwhelmed, I would cry alone. My world and worries were limited to it. It may seem strange for a kid or a teenager to feel this way but it was like this. I was a muslim by fitrah. It was the greatest blessing from Allah. Alas! few years ago I got

Ameen! Keep connecting and reflecting on the Quran with us, Dear Rutba. May Allah bless you.

What I took away from this verse is that we are all responsible for our actions, and the best legacy we can leave behind for our children is to ensure they continue to worship Allah alone.

I grew up in a community with prominent Islamic teachers, people of dawah, but unfortunately, many of their children couldn't follow this path. Many of their girls are not observing the hijab, and their lifestyles seems far from the lives their fathers lived and preached 🥹

Yet, I know a family where the father, who came from a non-practicing background and grew up in a society filled with dark vices, managed to learn how to recite the Qur'an and worship Allah due to his self-determination. He went on to

When Its Absence Speaks Volumes During the Quran Reflect Zoom discussion in Ramadan, there was a discussion on the verse ٱهۡدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ. One of the questions asked was why there is no harf, such as الي orعلي, after kalimah اهدنا? I am not an Arabic student and only recently started learning Arabic. I don't know the answer to this. However, it piqued my curiosity, prompting me to consider two types of sentences or requests that bear a striking resemblance to the question at hand. They are as follows: 1. Please teach me how to do a Caesarean section. 2. Please teach me Caesarean section. When someone asks me HOW to do a Caesarean section, the scope of the reques

Spring has arrived in southern Spain where I live, as it has for all of the northern hemisphere. Down at the river, male frogs are chirping in search of mates, and some of the trees are dropping cottony-soft fibers that look like snow. I wish I could share pictures here. Allah SWT is bringing forth signs of new life everywhere I look. I'm 59 years old, a late-life revert. And I will be the first to say that, 'on paper,' no one could probably have guessed that I would eventually turn to Islam. I am, to put it mildly, not the best of creation. Most of my life was spent in gratification of whims and pursuit of ego goals, with little attention paid to matters of the spirit or my family's nee

Anyone who is a Muslim and continues with the Islam is a person that knows a connection with Allah, and is smart enough not to get out of the religion because they feared Allah and no Muslim in the world if you realised have exited the Islam its either we are born with this amazing deen or reverted. May Allah bless whoever entered this deen. Salam alaikum:)

One of our reflection prompts this week (Week One of Qur'an in a Year) is 'How do we believe in Allah SWT without seeing Him?'

As a recent revert (March 2022) who was coming from a position of near-atheism, I worried greatly for a while about how it would ever be possible to truly believe in God. But little by slow, Allah SWT, the Gentle and All-Aware, has manifested His presence and care in my life, time and time again.

There are so many examples. I'll write here about two of them. God wiling:

May Allah bless you and your words. Jazakallah khair for this reflection, and for sharing your story 🤍 > Yes, but the time I needed got shorter each day. Did I connect with the Qur'an in a way I never had before? Absolutely. This part is comforting as someone who's currently stumbling across the letters of Quran. As I'm still finding my rhythm with tajweed, it reassures me that progress doesn't have to be dramatic to be real. Day by day, I trust that this small consistency will grow into something deeper. Inshallah, one day I won't just be reciting the words, rather, I'll feel them settle in my heart. May Allah continue to bless you in your journey and writing ❤️
