However, the heart is not limited to the known muscle; the piece of flesh mentioned by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم is only a representation of the heart at the physical level. From divine revelation, starting with this noble ayah, 'Allah has sealed their hearts,' we learn that the heart has a reality beyond its physical dimension, with qualities that can be described, actions attributed to it, things that may be in it, and things that may be on it. People's hearts may resemble one another in good or evil, across time and place. The healthy he

Nothing brings up our core values like hardships do. Tests and trials beg us to answer who and what we truly submit to. And many times, they are the driving force to realign our lives to what truly matters in life. Allah tells us in the Quran that people are often tested in order for them to return. Yet what are they returning to? Their true authentic core selves, which in other words is their servitude to none but Him. In this way, a hardship at our door ends up saving us from the trivial world we were once drowning in.

Abu Hurayrah narrates: The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: 'Allah does not look at your physical forms and wealth, but rather looks at your hearts and deeds.' [Authentic: Narrated by Muslim (2564:34)]
Amazing how the hearts can be stamped by Allah swt as a punishment to the point they see what is in their best interest to be evil for them and for what is the worse for their interest to be good for them. They told their messengers who came to guide them to their lord 'we consider you a bad omen'. We ask Allah protection from this kind of blindness.
