There are many like Abu Jahl whom the message of Islam faces. They listen but turn away. They are inventive in their opposition to the word of truth, pouring harm on its advocates, working out evil schemes, and feeling proud of their evil deeds and of the corruption they spread on earth. Hence, the Qur'an issues a clear threat to such people:

Your doom, man, comes nearer and nearer, and ever nearer and nearer. (Verses 34-35)

I recently learned that there are three types of selves mentioned in the Qur'an and in this ayah is one of them, the self that urges mankind to do evil. There is also the self that urges one to repent and that is essentially , our conscious. Finally the self that feels incredibly satisfied following the right path and abandoning the wrong path. As a convert learning that just from looking up the tafsir of surah Quiyamah, really took me full circle. This ayah alone taught me a lot about myself as part of His creation.

This question is a sign that you aren't ready for the akhirah. Instead of worrying about how it will be and when it will be, just prepare for it! Live every day like it is your last.
