There are four sacred months in Islaam: the 1st, the 7th, the 11th, and the 12th months of the Islamic calendar i.e. Muharram, Rajab, Dhul-Qa'da and Dhul-Hijja respectively.

Narrated Abu Bakr:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Time has come back to its original state which it had when Allah created the Heavens and the Earth; the year is twelve months, four of which are sacred. Three of them are in succession; Dhul-Qa'da, Dhul-Hijja and Al-Muharram, and (the fourth being) Rajab Mudar (named after the tribe of Mudar as they used to respect this month) which stands between Jumad (ath-thani) and Sha'ban.' Sahih al-Bukhari 4662

SubhaanAllaah! Nowadays we fail to recognise the importance of these months. We take them as other months. Rather we should strive to do more good deeds therein and avoid sins.

Allaah says: '...do not wrong yourselves therein ( in these months)...' 9:36 which means that sins in these months are greater in the sight of Allaah than in other months. May Allaah protect us.

I ask Allaah to turn our hearts towards His obedience and help us to do good deeds and avoid bad ones.
