So the punishment for Abraha’s army was specific.

Each stone sent from Allah was a punishment for taking part in the invasion of the holy sanctity; the Haram!

It was like Allah swt was reminding the army (and us) about personal accountability.

Though they were taking part as a collective army in the invasion - but each stone was pelted towards an individual as punishment for their own transgression.

As humans we follow each other like sheep and lead each other into small and sometimes big sins then we try to absolve ourselves from the sin ie for example backbiting, “But I didn’t start the conversation.”

It’s interesting the Quran describes us as being created from clay. In this Surah it was stones of baked clay that destroyed the army. It’s almost like they destroyed themselves, their own ego, greed and desire for economic power was their downfall and demise.
