Personal Reflection on Surah Al-Ikhlas
I don’t remember understanding the depth of Surah Al-Ikhlas when I first recited it at the age of four but I do remember how it made me feel. There was a sense of clarity, peace, and rhythm in its words, especially when I spoke them with the Urdu translation during school assemblies. Even without fully knowing its meaning, my heart felt something pure and powerful.
As I grew older, and life became more complex, I came back to this Surah not just out of habit, but out of need. When emotions became tangled, when faith was tested, or when silence felt heavy, I found myself reciting 'Qul huwa Allahu ahad…' like a whisper from the past reminding me of something unshakable.
This Surah became my constant a place I returned to for comfort, identity, and strength. It reminded me that Allah is One—unchanging and ever-present, even when everything around me shifts. That He is As-Samad—the One I can turn to without hesitation, without shame. That He is unlike anything I know—beyond human limits, and yet closer to my heart than anything else.
Sometimes I think Allah planted this Surah in my heart so early so it could grow with me quietly guiding me through the years, gently unfolding its meaning as I matured. It’s more than just words—it feels like a conversation, a soft yet firm reassurance that I am never alone.
To this day, when I recite it, I still feel that little 4-year-old inside me….standing tall, proud, and spiritually connected without even knowing why. And now, as I know more, I love it even more
