As we go into the Gregorian calendar year, and in my own domesticated thinking that this is the start of something new— (May Allah help me and all of us to break free from domestication) — we take a moment to step back and reflect and think to ourselves ok, what’s my goal next year… what am I going to do?/be? This ayat is a clear indication from Allah SWT that we — every human — when we open our hearts, have deep gratitude to what gifts, talents, capacity Allah has given us — has the opportunity to follow a way. What does this look like? Taking stock of what talents, capacity, capability and passion — looking deep to find that sweet spot where all of these interconnect (imagine a Venn diagram). And knowing that our mission in life is to serve Allah. And now, creating milestones of how we want to be, or become (notice I don’t say goals) in each part of the mission+sweet spot everyday or every month or every quarter of the year. When we believe and do good (doing good within our sweet spot) Allah will reward us the finest rewards. What that reward is, is Allah’s blessing(s) whatever the form might be. And know, with belief, it’s the best. And like Dhzul-Karnain, ayat 89: ثُمَّ اَتۡبَعَ سَبَبًا - Then he followed a way. Or he followed a 'different' way. We too then take our talents, capacity, capability, and passion and follow a way. Because, results aka goals, money, status, rizq, and other human goals are in Allahs hands. In the end, take what we have been blessed with and follow a way. That may or may not be alongside others. It’s as if Allah is saying, be you. Follow your way. Bismillah

منهجية الارتقاء إلى الأحسن وليس للحسن فقط. لقد شدني في هذه السورة استعمال صيغة 'أفعل التفضيل' عشرين مرة هي على الترتيب مايلي : - • إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلاً (7). • ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَاهُمْ لِنَعْلَمَ أَيُّ الْحِزْبَيْنِ أَحْصَى لِمَا لَبِثُوا أَمَداً (12). • فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِباً (15). • قَالُوا رَبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا لَبِثْتُمْ فَابْعَثُوا أَحَدَكُم بِوَرِقِكُمْ هَذِهِ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ (19). • فَلْيَنظُرْ أَيُّهَا أَزْكَى طَعَاماً فَلْيَأْتِكُم بِرِزْقٍ مِّنْهُ (19). • فَقَالُوا ابْنُوا عَلَيْهِم بُنْيَاناً رَّبُّهُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِهِمْ (21). • قُل ر
