Hazrat Luqman was not a prophet. He was a noble, wise man. Yet his advice to his son was so precise that Allah quoted it in the Holy Quraan. 'O my dear son! Establish prayer, encourage what is good and forbid what is evil, and endure patiently whatever befalls you. Surely this is a resolve to aspire to. 'And do not turn your nose up to people, nor walk pridefully upon the earth. Surely Allah does not like whoever is arrogant, boastful. Be moderate in your pace. And lower your voice, for the ugliest of all voices is certainly the braying of donkeys.' When we listen and read these verses we realize how clear and clean a fatherly advice is supposed to be. Unfortunately not every child is fortunate to receive good advice, rather they become victims of name and shame when actually what they were seeking was loving parental guidance. May Allah open our eyes and hearts to how we treat and raise chidren, be it as a parent, teacher or else. We don't require a profession to enlighten a child's heart. (Who knows that could be a means of Sadqah Jariyah for us on the long run too?)
