Whoever comes with a good deed will have it’s amount ten fold, and whoever comes with an evil deed will only be recompensed for it, and they will not be oppressed. (Surat Al-An’am v. 160) ⁣ ⁣ This is the system that Allah has put in place for us in this earthly existence. Growing up playing video games we would be so excited to learn a cheat code that would give us an advantage in the game. Maybe more lives. Maybe more health. ⁣ ⁣ This verse shows us that Allah has given us in this game called life, an incredible advantage, we are living with a cheat code, the odds are stacked incredibly in our favor. It is not a game that is designed for us to lose, it’s designed for us to win big! ⁣ ⁣

Junior year of high school, my AP US History teacher gave everyone B’s on our test. Why? Because the ENTIRE class failed 😅. Even the smartest kid in class. We were all shocked. When we came in, he told us that after seeing our collective struggle he graded the test on a curve. And honestly, I’ve come to realize that’s what life is like for the believer too. Because Allah ﷻ is rewarding us for things we didn’t even fully do. Multiplying the good and only counting the bad as one: 'Whoever comes with a good deed will be rewarded tenfold. A couple of things crossed my mind after coming across this verse again today.

We are often reminded of the magnanimity and the generosity of Allah SWT through the words above, and we should be happy that the reward for a good deed is 10 times while the punishment for a sin is the like of it. Alhamdulillah. However, despite the tilting of scales in our favor, how many of us can be certain that our good deeds will outperform the sinful ones by the end of our lives? Can we be certain we will accumulate more rewards than punishment by the end of it? Is Allah indicating that mankind needs this tilting of the scale by 1:10 to stand a chance in the next life?
