In the Name of Allah , the Owner of Mercy , the Giver of Mercy.
Being Willfully Deaf and Dumb!
Ya Allah, I cannot stop myself from reflecting on this—I see myself in it. I have always asked You for more free time: 'Allah Jee, please, this time, in this summer break, I promise it’s my last time. Rabbi, I have become lazy.' Yet I always find myself making endless excuses for not doing what is expected of me by You, Ya Rabbi.
It is only by His grace that I am able to reflect here today, to let His words flow through me.
When the inner connection to His words is weak, the outer will, the himmah, the courage also fall behind. The ability to have stern irādah (willpower) becomes weak—leading to such excuses.
For the last two to three months, I have consistently found myself making absolutely absurd excuses for not reflecting, for not connecting to the Qur’an with my heart. Deep inside, I knew I needed it, yet I still ignored the craving of my soul.
Ya Allah! Make me among those who love Your Book, Your Words, Your Commandments, and Your Rasool ﷺ. Rabbi, make me return back to You at every millisecond—always conscious of You, loving You, speaking for You, living and dying for You. Āmīn.

Allāhumma innī a`ūdhu bika mina ‘l-ḥammi wa ‘l-ḥazan, wa ‘l-`ajzi wa ‘l-kasal, wa ‘l-bukhli wa ‘l-jubn, wa ḍala`id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijāl.
O Allah! I seek refuge with You from worry and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from being heavily in debt and from being overpowered by (other) men.
