Sound of Faith.

Sound therapy is a modern concept where psychological ailments are treated through natural sounds.

Patients listen to certain sounds repeatedly at specific frequencies, which in turn release calming and happy hormones. Other sounds exist in the environment, but patients are prescribed to intentionally focus on the provided sounds while deliberately ignoring other background noise.

Headphones are often provided to silence distractions.

Faith works in a similar way.

The verse mentions they didn’t say, 'If only we had believed.' They said if they would have listened, perhaps because faith begins long before belief — it begins with listening and reasoning.

Listening is the heart’s first act of humility — a willingness to receive truth. Reasoning is its second act — the courage to think, reflect, and connect. Belief is the fruit that grows only when these two roots are alive.

Often, when there’s a call from someone we don’t want to speak to, or we are busy, we set our phone to silent. This is intentional and a deliberate act to ignore the call.

Every soul is born upon fitrah — an innate recognition of One God. To refuse listening or reasoning is not mere negligence — it is the conscious silencing of that inner call. They did not listen to the truth, nor reason with the signs; they turned deaf and blind by choice.

That deliberate act of ignoring is like the soul silencing the call of truth.

Echo is always based on the voice. The voice is the core element for echo and is by default present before the echo.

Faith is the echo of the soul — the voice of truth (fitrah) is already present, but its echo can only be heard when one listens intentionally.

This verse reminds us that rejecting truth does not always come from arrogance — sometimes it comes from inattention. Hearing without absorbing. Listening without reflecting.

To not fall into the same trap, we must listen to the Qur’an with the intent to understand, not just recite. To pause when we hear an ayah and ask: 'What is Allah saying to me here?' Because true listening changes you and that change is the beginning of faith.
