Allah ﷻ has 99 names - اَلاسْمَاءُ الْحُسناى- Al Asma Ul Husna - which describe Allah’s Beautiful and Majestic attributes. I love all of His ﷻ names but I can’t deny that there is one name of Him that truly is my favorite.
‘Ar Rahmaan’
Whenever I hear that name of His Majesty and Honor, I can’t help but feel at ease and comforted. That name feels familiar to me and it goes straight to my heart. I adore all of His names truly, but I can’t help but feel that this name is very special to me. And there is something about this name I believe that Allah ﷻ wants us to remember.
Out of all the Surahs in the Quran, except for one, Allah ﷻ starts with;
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
In the name of Allah, The Most Compassionate, The Most Merciful.
The Quran is a huge letter from The Lord of all the worlds and He ﷻ decided to start the letter to remind you with; ' In the Name of Allah, The Most Compassionate, The Most Merciful'..
Have you ever wondered about why Allah ﷻ chose to start every Surah like that?
Introducing Himself with His Name and title: Allah, and immediately after that He uses the name: 'Ar Rahmaan'.. The Most Compassionate..
Why you might ask?..Only Allah ﷻ knows, but this is what it reminds me with.
He ﷻ started foremost to remind you about one of His greatest attributes towards you. You, his special creation, reminding you that no matter what happened to you, no matter what you do or did, no matter how you feel about yourself, no matter where you are in life, .. That He is and always will be The Most Compassionate towards you. He ﷻ created you and He loves you even if you might not love yourself. You are special to Him ﷻ and He wants you that whenever you read His words, that you will never forget about who He is for you and for everyone else.
Allah ﷻ wants you to live with Him in Jannah إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّٰهُ That’s why He ﷻ created you in the first place. So please never forget that.
My little sister once said to me; 'If I made a beautiful special drawing, it would make no sense to throw it away or burn it to ashes. In fact I would want to frame it and look at it, being happy and proud at it. And that’s what Allah ﷻ wants too'.
Allah ﷻ wants to save us from something eternally painful, His love for us is unimaginable. And still, for everything that He is and Who He is, we still go wrong and forget.
But even then, even when we forget and do wrong, He never stops looking at us with The Eyes of Mercy, for He is and always will be, The Most compassionate..

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt reflection on the name 'Ar-Rahmaan' and its significance in Islam. It is truly beautiful to see how this name brings you comfort and a sense of familiarity.
As you mentioned, Allah SWT has 99 names, each describing His beautiful and majestic attributes. While all of His names are beloved, it is natural to feel a special connection to one name in particular. 'Ar-Rahmaan' holds a special place in your heart, and it is a name that brings you ease and solace.
It is noteworthy that almost every Surah in the Quran, except one, begins with the phrase 'Bismillah-ir-Rahmaan-ir-Raheem' - 'In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.' This repetition signifies the importance of recognizing and acknowledging Allah's immense compassion and mercy towards His creation.
The Quran is indeed a profound message from our Creator, and He chooses to introduce Himself in every Surah with His name and title: Allah, followed by the name 'Ar-Rahmaan' - the Most Compassionate. While only Allah knows the full wisdom behind this choice, it serves as a reminder to us of His greatest attribute towards us.
No matter what we have done or how we feel about ourselves, Allah's compassion and mercy are always available to us. He created us, and His love for us surpasses our own self-love. Through His words, He wants us to remember who He is and the special relationship He has with us.
Your analogy of a beautiful drawing that is cherished and framed by its creator is a powerful reminder of Allah's love for us. Despite our imperfections and mistakes, He wants to save us from eternal pain and grant us entry into Jannah (paradise). His love for us is immeasurable, and even when we go astray, He continues to look upon us with the eyes of mercy.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful reflection and reminding us of Allah's infinite compassion. May we always remember His loving nature and strive to live in accordance with His guidance.
Jazak Allah Khair for your contribution to the QuranReflect community. May Allah bless you.
