As a high school girl, life feels like a constant whirlwind of change. There are days when everything seems to make sense—when I feel grounded, like I know exactly who I am and what I'm doing. But then there are other days, a lot of them actually, when I feel lost. My friends, school, the pressure to fit in, and even my own thoughts—it’s all just too much sometimes. I don’t always know what I’m supposed to be doing or how to deal with the stuff going on inside of me. Heres my favorite ayah that I think about on a daily basis: 'For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.' I’ve read this verse before, but it never really hit me until now. I guess because lately, it feels like everything is just hard. My faith is all over the place, and I often feel like I’m just pretending to be the person everyone expects me to be. I don’t always know what’s right or wrong anymore, and I constantly worry about disappointing my parents, my friends, and even myself. But when I really stopped to think about this verse, something clicked. I think, at first, I thought that ease was something that comes after hardship. Like, 'if I just get through this difficult moment, things will get better eventually.' But what I realized is that ease is already here, alongside the hardship — it’s not something that waits at the end. Maybe the ease is the chance to learn, to grow, to be patient with myself and trust that it's okay not to have it all figured out right now. Maybe the ease is in knowing that I don’t have to be perfect, and that struggling doesn’t make me weak—it makes me human. I know my relationship with Allah is a bit shaky these days. I sometimes feel too distracted or too tired to pray, and I wonder if He’s mad at me for it. But then I remember Surah At-Tawbah (9:51), which says: 'Say, 'Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our protector.' And upon Allah let the believers rely.' This reminds me that even on the tough days, when I feel like I can’t hold everything together, I can still rely on Him. It’s hard to trust sometimes, especially when I’m confused about my faith or I get caught up in everything going on around me. But this verse tells me that I don’t have to have all the answers. Allah is my protector, even when I feel alone or like I don’t know where I’m going.  I know I’m still learning. I’m not always going to get it right. But maybe that’s okay. The journey of faith and self-discovery is messy, and right now, I’m just trying to hold on and remember that there’s always room for growth. And I think that’s the beauty of Islam—it doesn’t expect perfection. It just asks us to keep trying, keep going, even when it feels like we’re failing. Sometimes I look at my friends and think, 'They have it all together.' I see their confidence, their certainty, and I wonder why I can’t be more like them. But the truth is, everyone has their own struggles. The Quran reminds me that we’re all going through our own challenges, even if they look different on the outside. I guess, for me, the biggest takeaway is that it’s okay to be in the middle of the struggle—it doesn’t mean I’m failing. Sometimes, it just means I’m growing. And with every step, even the hard ones, I’m closer to Allah. So for now, I’ll try to keep taking it day by day. Maybe I won’t have all the answers, but I can always turn back to Him. And that, in itself, is a kind of ease.
