Tonight, verses 83–85 hit differently. It reminded me of watching my infant son leave this world… I was holding him, so close yet the angels of death were closer but I couldn’t see them. I couldn’t stop them. I was helpless. I loved him dearly as any mother would.. If I could do anything in that moment, I wonder what it would have been. But verse 58–59… SubhanalLah put me right in my place! I didn’t create him. I wasn’t the one who brought him to life. Allah only chose & honored me as a vessel. This reflection humbles me. It reminds me that the same fate awaits me too. All of us! To Him we belong. To Him is our return. وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ م

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

The majority of us are as attached to this world that is fleeting and temporary. We often remain preoccupied with our thoughts with what is less important and do not contemplate and give much attention to what is most important.

These ayats helped me to have a much better perspective of what really is important.

1. Do we have control over the Creation and formation of any living thing? No, it is Allah who Creates, Fashions thus He brings about every living thing;

2. Do we have control over the growth of crops? Thus our rizq and sources of income? Contemplate how our sustenance comes to us? We do not have control over it,

When I heard these ayaat the other day during taraweeh, it hit me like a strong cold wind subhānAllah. What a humbling reality. First, Allah ﷻ reminds us of how we’re created. Through the joining of man and woman, and through His Will, an embryo is formed. Following that, Allah reminds us that we’re born and we’re also destined to die. Allahu Akbar. May we return to Allah ﷻ in the best of states (Husnul-khaatimah). Amin.

Then Allah asks us about our produce, the agriculture, the food that we enjoy. Yes, we cultivate the land and farm. But, it’s Allah and Allah alone that blesses us with harvest. It’s Allah and Allah alone that allows the crops to grow due to our efforts. Just like the
