Tadabur on ayah 12 of surah Ar-Raa’d: 'He is the One Who shows you lightning, inspiring ˹you with˺ hope and fear,1 and produces heavy clouds'. In this ayah ALLAH SWT tells us that HE SWT created lightening to make us fearful and hopeful. Fearful in the way as the ray of light may fall on us or it is the sign of ALLAH’S anger, hopeful in the way that when its lightening out there it’s the sign of rain which causes the rivers and streames to flow and rain also causes the land to absorb water and produces vegetation. Lightning is a massive electrostatic discharge that occurs during thunderstorms. It's a complex phenomenon involving atmospheric electricity, thermodynamics, and physics. ALLAHU AKBAR! Within cumulonimbus clouds, water droplets and ice crystals collide, generating static electricity. The upper part of the cloud becomes positively charged, while the lower part becomes negatively charged. A lightning bolt heats the surrounding air to incredibly high temperatures, potentially exceeding 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit, which is hotter than the surface of the sun.SUBHANALLAH! This extreme heat causes the air to expand rapidly, creating a shockwave that we hear as thunder.  The intense heat and energy of a lightning strike can cause trees to explode or be severely damaged. (fear) The energy from lightning can break down atmospheric nitrogen, forming nitrates, which are essential for plant growth. (hope)SUBHANALLAH! While most lightning appears white or yellowish-white, it can also be blue, purple, red, or even green, depending on the temperature and gases in the air.ALLAHU AKBAR! Lightning can reach temperatures of up to 30,000°C, five times hotter than the surface of the sun. Lightning can travel at speeds of up to 270,000 km/h (170,000 mph). A single lightning bolt can contain up to 1 gigajoule of energy, enough to power a 100W light bulb for 200,000 hours.SUBHANALLAH! Clouds are collections of tiny water droplets or ice crystals suspended in the air. They play a crucial role in the Earth's climate system and are an essential part of the water cycle. They are categorized into high, middle, and low clouds, based on their height above the Earth's surface. SUBHANALLAH! While they appear light and airy, a single cumulus cloud can weigh hundreds of tons. When a cloud forms near the ground, it's called fog. SUBHANALLAH! Other planets with atmospheres, like Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn, also have clouds. The earth's atmosphere is a very cloudy place. NASA's Earth Observatory estimates that at any given time, around 67% of Earth's surface is covered by clouds.ALLAHU AKBAR! Clouds play a crucial role in shaping weather patterns, including precipitation, temperature, and wind. Clouds help regulate the Earth's climate by reflecting sunlight and trapping heat. Clouds are an essential part of the water cycle, as they distribute freshwater around the globe.ALLAHU AKBAR KABIRAH! Clouds can form at various heights, from low-lying fog to high-level cirrus clouds. Clouds are classified into over 100 different types, including some unusual ones like 'morning glory clouds' .SUBHANALLAH! Clouds can exhibit stunning iridescence, where they display colors of the rainbow due to the diffraction of sunlight. Clouds can be artificially seeded with substances like silver iodide or dry ice to enhance precipitation.ALLAHU AKBAR! Both lightening and clouds are the sign of rain.If the rain occurs in balance it causes the regulation of weather and production of fertile vegetation. But if the rain occur unchecked it causes the irregulation in weather pattrens ,floods and drought which causes the destruction of ecosystem as well as humanity. We should fear ALLAH SWT who can destroy us by the small change in weather pattern.ALLAHU AKBAR! May ALLAH SWT guide us to the straight path.AMEEN! Regards:Ayesha Zafar
