I am so grateful for this ayat that Allah has bestowed on us. This is a great reminder that Allah continuously guides us in whatever we are doing and wherever we are in our life.
My life is littered with nudges, reminders, surprises (like OMG what?), and redirecting of where I am going — and to know that ok, I’m here (wherever I am on the slope of life (up or down)) I know Allah is teaching me something and I ask, 'Oh Allah, what do you want me to see? To learn?'
And in the second part of this ayat, Allah gives us the Dua to ask to be pardoned and help us out when the going gets tough and please don’t make it so tough — as YOU are our Only guardian.
This emphasizes to us humans to never take the creation as our guide, crutch, thing to hold onto— rather take refuge with Allah.
This last part about so grant us victory over the disbelieving people — I wonder what scope is that?
Initially I’m thinking those that disbelieve — but reflecting on my own situation and how my close friendship fell to the wayside; maybe Allah is reminding us to ask protection from anyone who forgets Allah and from those puts the creation first. And a believer could fall into that.
My learning is, Allah is reminding us to put everything He has created into our 'hands' and keep only Allah in our heart.
May Allah protect us all.
Aamiin
