Sometimes we face worldly dilemmas, where we stress ourselves for days thinking shall I do X or Y? Sometimes, we are confused, as everyone else may be doing X but something in our heart doesn't quite feel right. To give an example, wedding season is coming up for our family, and we have a big wedding which is currently being planned and all the women are getting kitted up (in typical desi style). My family have shared with me such beautiful and gorgeous outfits that I can afford alhamdulillah, and although it feels very tempting to pursue, for various reasons, my heart is not feeling happy/settled. In this situation, what should I and others do? Allah describes in these verses 4 benefits of doing as Allah has ordered us to do: 1. You will receive of an abundance of good in this world and the hereafter 2. Your faith in Allah will be strengthened and made more firm 3. You are promised a 'great' reward in the hereafter 4. You will receive guidance from Allah to be steadfast on the straight path (and guidance in matters of the world too). So when you are confused between doing X and Y, even in matters where there isn't a right or wrong, because of your obedience to Allah in other matters - for choosing to obey Allah rather than your own ego, lower self and desires - Allah swt will guide you in your heart towards that which is better for you. And you will reach a stage where these confusing matters will no longer feel confusing or stressful, rather immediately in your heart you will feel ease and peace at turning it to Allah and letting Him guide you to what is the very best for you. So for me, this talks to me and reminds me, strengthen your obedience to Allah and these issues and dilemmas you feel you are facing, will become non-issues. May Allah swt make us of those who always obey His commands. May He make us from those who receive His divine guidance and act upon it and are grateful for it. And may He make us from those that the Prophet saw described as: 'There are people in my community in whose heart Faith is entrenched firm like mountains.' Ameen.
