5 Aal I Imran 10 The ayat speaks about the means of security one may seek on the Last Day: Wealth, Kids Was thinking these are the two basic sources of security we seek in our lives. We work for all tangible means, money, house, and what not to give that sense of safety. All these contribute to protecting our bodies basically. And there's اولادکم we seek our emotional security from the people around. Kids are people we heavily invest in to reap in future. So perhaps it includes all relationships that we invest in expecting them to be by our side in times of need. Yes tangible things n relations are necessary but we often forget that both of them are so fragile. They can be lost at any moment. This brings me to الحی القیوم at the beginning of the surah. Only Allah is forever there, so long as He's there, I m secure. Why shouldn't I rely on the ever living, ever sustaining. Why shouldn't I rely on the One who's the source of these means? Why should I even fear of losing them when the Ever Sustainer is with me?
Takeaway: Tangible things and relationships are important but they are just temporary means and they are not the ends. My beginning n end of support is with the Ever living Ever Sustaining. I m getting myself free from fear of loss!

Jazakallah khair for this beautiful reflection. This made me ponder on how we should make everything in our life an act of ibaadah including attaining wealth and raising children. These things are part of life but you fail when these worldly things are your sole focus on with a worldly gain. If you peruse a career with good intentions to please Allah, and raise children righteously, the things of this dunya will benefit you in the akira. We will become less attached to them aslo since they become a means to get close to Allah.
