Allah tells us in these ayaat of the things He wants to give us, in contrast to others. Allah wills to:

- make things clear - guide us to be like those who came before - be merciful towards us/accept our repentance - lighten our burdens

Why? Because He knows we have weaknesses and flaws. We aren't perfect, and we all find things difficult.

When I see this list, I see a message from Allah: If He willingly gives me all those things, then if I don't feel that I'm receiving them there must be a block from my side somewhere.

And for me personally, I think that block is my ego.

- I can't think clearly when my ego and emotions are clouding my judgement. - I can't follow the path of those who came before me if my ego makes me think they're somehow lacking to be my 21st century role model. - I can't receive Allah's mercy if my ego makes me too proud to apologise and seek repentance - I can't benefit from Allah lightening my burden if my ego doesn't let me accept that I need help

Allah is so full of mercy towards me, but is my heart in a position ready to receive it? The Master does not owe anything to the slave and yet Allah still gives me so much. And so I must work on controlling my ego so that this slave is never the one blocking her Master from doing as He Wills...
