Surat al-Kahf reflection: 'Wealth and children are adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one's] hope.' There are certain things of this world that make life more beautiful and more enjoyable. While we are not prevented from enjoying them, Allah reminds us that there are other things that we might overlook that last longer: good deeds. The two categories are not mutually exclusive, but they can be: if you use your money only for the enjoyment of this life, and your love for your children makes you raise them to only be successful in this life, then neither will last you after you are gone. Their enjoyment and love will only be in this world. On the other hand, if you use your money to do good, and you raise your children to be good, then both of those enter into the category of 'enduring good deeds'. And their enjoyment will not be limited to this life. Make the choice to take what you love with you and make it enduring.
