I was reading through Maariful Quran - a Quran app that includes tafsir and translation. I came across tafsir of this verse that inspired some thoughts in me.
'The word Rabb indicates that only He is or can be, worthy of being worshipped. He is the final and absolute Cause of nurturing man - Who changes man through gradual stages of development. From a drop of water into a healthy, sentient and rational being. And it is Him Who provides the means for his sustenance and growth.' (Maariful Quran).
Growth. Growth is not limited to the seen, to the physical body. We are mind - body - soul, so there are various types of growth. Spiritual, emotional, psychological. Only a dead or lifeless thing does not grow - alhamdulilah for the forces that make us grow. Even if it hurts.
Allah, al Khaliq, created us all uniquely - we all have a different nature. To corroborate with all these different natures - there are many kinds of pains. There as many different flavours of pain as there are different kinds of humans.
And Allah knows exactly which pain, at what time, for which person specifically, will help us in our path towards Him. Our rooh gets molded with every hardship we endure.
So situations in life are never random. Everything is meticulously laid out in our lives by Allah subhana wa ta'ala. 'If the believer knew how Allah has arranged his affairs, his heart would melt out of love for Him.' (Ibn Qayyim)
You may think that the previous hardship has nothing to with the current one. But truth actually is, that every previous hardship prepares you to take on the next one. No trial is out of place or out of order.
He knows what spiritual/ emotional/ psychological tools you need to tackle a tribulation - so He carefully preps your rooh by arranging your life in a way that you keep growing.
All of the previous trials, prepared you for this specific trial.
All of the previous trials, were meant to lead up to this moment.
