Forgiveness--the ultimate act of piety Forgiveness is the hardest act of inner struggle. This Aya was seen as a reminder to Abu Bakr to forgive his relative who had helped spread the false rumor of his daughter Aisha's (ra) unfaithfulness. Abu Bakr was considered one of the best human beings after the prophets. When it came to charity he gave all his wealth away. When it came to prayer he stood all night. When it came to faith he was named the one who confirms the truth (Assidiq). Yet even Abu Bakr, who was first in line in every Ibadda, needed a reminder to forgive. With great difficulty comes great reward. And interestingly the verse instructs us not only to overlook being wronged but to in fact help the person who wronged us by giving to them. How can we soften our ego so fully? By remembering how badly we need Gods forgiveness. Allahu Akbar.
