Every year, we don't just mark the new year on the hijri calendar. But we Reflect on what this truly means to us. The event of the hijrah of the Prophet Pbuh was in fact one of the most important events that would shape the world. If you think about it, it's actually kind of crazy that a group of young men in Medina would sponsor the prophet pbuh and doing so would make them go against not only Makkah which was the center of Arab tradition and culture but also the rest of the Arab world. They didn't have elders , advising them. Or any motive other than that, Iman had pierced through their hearts. It cost a lot of sacrifice. And the struggle didn't end with the migration, however it was the begining of empowerment for the Muslims. We wouldn't be here, if the prophet pbuh didn't take this step and the Muslims didn't follow him. رضي الله عنهم اجمعين Reflecting on a communal level. Someone in my MSO said that they were extremely surprised at how college MSAs are run by the youth without adult supervision. Nobody is telling them to pray or hold events yet you can feel the drive, motivation and sense of community. And if you think about it, if done correctly Muslim organizations on campus can follow the prophetic model of building a community. Yes, there's many things that can be improved on but in principle it has potential to very beneficial. And we can learn so much from how the prophet and his companions did it in Madinah. May Allah accept it from us and guide us. Reflecting on a personal level. Every idea, begins with a thought. And it has potential for great impact. The balance between tawakkul and doing your part is essential. The prophet didn't just migrate without preparation. Rather the first 13 years was the indirect and direct preparation for that Muslim nation. How can I contribute to my community? What can I do, that not only changes me for the better but also someone else? It doesn't have to be that big , it can be very small. But know that any effort done by a man or woman will not be lost. Ya Rab use me to fix myself and to better your people.

Love how you tied the importance of Hijrah and community life and how it’s not an individual thing but rather a communal thing with preparation and sacrifice. Ameen, May Allah make us among them.
