Web of lies Subhan Allah, I was thinking of someone recently who is going through a difficult divorce, difficult in the sense of the process being dragged out and 'evidence' and 'commentary' being given against this person- essentially not the truth or rather facts being twisted, all to protect their financial interest. This process has been going on for little over a year, and I thought to myself, if the divorcing party had done everything in a honest and upright manner, then things would not have got so ugly that it had repercussions on the wider family and on their own social circle. It is frightening that people keep spinning tales to picture the person as the bad person, and they as the victim. No doubt, divorce is something that you can't digest easily, however, the Quran clearly provides a framework on which such things should be conducted. My brain has never been so lost, with what I have heard, and as a member of the wider family, it pains me to see my loved ones changing the narrative to suit their 'truth'. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes, but thats ok, just own them and rectify them. My late mother used to say, if you lie once, you have to keep on lying to cover the first lie and also since you forget what you have said, you keep saying more lies. May Allah have rahma on my parents and allow us to be sadaqa jariya for them. *** This is taken from

Show us Truth as Truth and give us ability to follow it and show us Falsehood as Falsehood and give us the ability to avoid it. May Allah make us seekers of The Truth. Ameen

JazakAllahu khairan for sharing this heartfelt reflection. The reminder about how lies multiply and entangle people in webs of harm was very moving, especially with the duʿāʾ you shared.
We made a small adjustment and replaced the ayah at the end with Surah An-Nisa (4:135), as it is more directly fitting for the theme of honesty and justice:
'O believers! Stand firm for justice as witnesses for Allah even if it is against yourselves, your parents, or close relatives.…' (4:135)
It beautifully reinforces your point about speaking the truth and upholding fairness, even when it’s difficult.
May Allah grant you strength, bless your loved ones, and make this reflection a sadaqah jariyah for your parents. Ameen
