Todays reminder from surah kahf. Surah kahf and its internal message is a protection from the fitnah of the one eyed dajjal. Of one of the meanings of 'one eyedness' of dajjal and his system is as follows: It is something which was termed as 'worship of means' by the late Dr Israr Ahmed. In simple words it means that we get too obsessed with the 'means' of obtaining something and forget the One who is in control of that means. When we only see from the external eye, when we only believe in what the human eye can see, in scientific principles and logic. When we get too obsessed with this and ignore the 'unseen' or 'ghaib' we are seeing with one eye, which is the ultimate fitnah of dajjal. It is true that Allah is the One who has created scientific and tangible means to achieve each and everything. But it is also true that these things dont happen on their own, His 'kun' is needed for even a leaf to fall. Yes, the means of that leaf falling is that it has died, turned yellow and gravity makes it fall. That is 'how' it happens. But it cannot happen without Allah Willing it to happen. When all we see is the gravity and lose sight of who is really behind what is happening, this is the ultimate one eyedness which will increase more and more as the end of times approach. None of us are safe from this. Sometimes we simply get too lost, obsessed in our enthusiasm for what we are doing that we forget to say important words like 'maa shaa Allah' (this is what Allah has willed) for things that have already happened, or to say 'inn shaa Allah' (It will happen only IF Allah Wills). This is what happened with Rasool SAW, as well as Musa AS in surah Kahf and they are gently reminded, and through them we are reminded too. The 'means' to achieve anything can be perfect, but the end still CANNOT be achieved without the command of Allah. The means depends on Allahs command, but Allahs command can make the event happen whether the means exists or not. Read that again and internalize it. Yes we have to utilise all means, it is necessary, but at the same time we get so involved with the means that we forget to priorotise Allahs role. Utilise the means but never rely on it. Rely only on the commander of the means. After years of studying surah kahf this is one of the biggest messages I have gained from it, as to what one eyedness vs two eyedness is, metaphorically. Rasool SAW was asked questions, he confidently replied he will answer them, he forgot to say innshaaAllah. Then this surah was revealed. An ayah of the surah says, never say i will do anything in the future, except that Allah Wills it. The story of Musa AS is a witness that there are two dimensions of all events. Dhul Qarnain is the man who dominates the world because he is the perfect example of someone who has power (means) but fully recognises that it is all purely from the Will of Allah. The two gardeners, one of them counsels the other on the same topic, not to rely so much on temporary transient means. And the people of the cave denounce and leave such a world that worships only the means, and retreat to a cave to protect their faith. It is a lesson that has to be internalised, in todays world that is increasingly losing faith in the unseen and relying purely on the 'tangible'.

'زينة لها' كل ما هو موجود من زينة على الأرض هو زينة للأرض و ليس زينة للبشر. فهى ليست لهم ليملكوها و لذلك لا يأخذون منها شيئاً عند رحيلهم أي موتهم، و لكن جُعلت هذه الزينة للاختبار 'لنبلوهم'
