Whenever reading the Prophet's (pbuh) biography, I am amazed at how he understood people. We hear about how each companion felt that they had their own special bond with the Prophet Muhammad. We read about those who made mistakes rush to the Prophet to ask for help. Our hearts soften when we know that he noticed the absence of the mosque cleaner and was upset because no one had told him that she had passed away so he could pray upon her; when he visited a child because he heard that his pet bird had died; when he went to check on his abusive neighbor because she stopped her abuse for a day; and when he comforted a girl who got her first period in front of him, and even gave her a gift. Subhan Allah , I read this verse a couple days ago but today it just came on my tongue and I didn’t remember where I read it from so I used the search feature on QuranReflect (my hifdh teachers would all be disappointed in me ). To call upon Allah in hope, makes sense. When you hope for something to happen and are left in a state of uncertainty and powerless. Then there is no better relief than having hope and حسن الظن با الله And to call upon Allah in fear makes sense too , sometimes it’s when you’ve committed a sin and are afraid of the punishment of Allah , at other times it’s the fear of something dangerous or a calamity but there’s no better relief here as well than to have ح

The guilt of realising the evil we have done can sametime be overwhelming. One thing that a person should do, definitely, is repent. Like prophet Noah (as) told his people to repent and Allah will shower His blessing. The other act to do is to engage ourselves in good deeds. Ofcourse, there is reward for doing good but this ayah reminds us of something so unique. Good deeds will be an antidote to the poison of evil. In this life, people might keep reminding us of our evil. But this ayah fills us with hope and gives a practical approach to shed off the dirt of evil. In doing good, we can gain His 'mai'yah' - company. Surely Allah is with those who shun evil and who do good ˹deeds˺. (16:1
