In Surah Mursalat Allah swt says to the mushrikeen, run toward that hell which you used to deny. Then Allah swt describes hell in such an extreme imaginative form which really visualized it for me. Hell shoots out sparks the size of tree trunks! Its smoke hisses from three gigantic columns. But the shadow of the smoke will not give any kind of relief. It will burn you and smother you. Then in the next section Allah counters jahnams’s shadow with Jannah’s shade, subhanallah. The believers' shade will be cool and have springs and relief. So both sides will have shade but they will be extremely different.

instead of preparing for the day of judgment, the human being always keeps asking when the day of judgment is. This is saying: 'oh if you tell me when it is then I'll prepare for it when I have to.' This question is a sign that you aren't ready for the akhirah. Instead of worrying about how it will be and when it will be, just prepare for it! Live every day like it is your last. Sometimes the Imam will say before starting a prayer: Salu Salat Al Muwadi '' pray the prayer of the person who is saying goodbye to something. So pray as though you might die immediately afterwards and not ever be able to pray again. The human being only wants to stay in this dunya because he is making his dunya b

Ma sha Allah. Beautiful post. The part about wanting to know when the day of judgment is, before I begin to prepare for it… it made me think of the fact, that even if I prepared for akhira from the day I was born until my dying point, my worship still wouldn’t do enough justice to my creator Allah.

Winning in this Dunya might be losing in this Akhira. And losing in this dunya is winning in the akhira. The people of the trench lost in a worldly perspective of course, they died and were burned alive! But they won jannah so they won in the afterlife. When You say you are a believer, Allah will test your claim. Do not think that because you say you are a mumin you will not be tested. Allah will see if you are actually a believer and if you actually love Allah through your deeds. They are the only thing that will get you to jannah.

In surah Al Najm Allah starts off by telling us that the Prophet Muhaamad saw is to be trusted because the message is only trusted as well as the messenger. Allah swt tells us that the prophet only speaks from revelation and never speaks from his own desire. So the Prophet Muhamad saw should be followed in everything he does because Allah chose him to be a role model for us. The prophet Muhammad didn't just do stuff because he felt like it, everything he did was inspired by Allah! So that means that the sunnah is equally important to the other things we do like fard and that there isn’t just this thing called 'oh that’s just sunnah i don't have to do it.' Allah chose some things to

Allah (swt) introduced himself to mankind with this sura. The first thing Allah wants humans to know is that He exists and He is our Creator and Protector and that He is the Source of Knowledge. Allah (swt) wants us to read in His name to gain knowledge and to approach the Quran with the mindset of ‘I don’t know but I’m going to find out.’ Only after you admit that you don’t know do you begin to learn. And only after you begin to learn do you push away ignorance . And only after you push away ignorance do you begin to change for the better. Change begins with learning . Don’t just learn anything, learn how to get to jannah by reading the Quran. The reason we know that the Quran is best f

In surah Al Adiyat Allah starts out by painting a picture, a magnificent picture. The scene of a fast running horse striking the earth and creating sparks with its hooves, plunging into the midst of an enemy camp in the early dawn completely obedient to its master. Then Allah ends the Surah at that cliffhanger and he tells the human that Allah is YOUR master and YOU don’t listen to him. He is asking you to be obedient to him, not putting you in any danger but the loyal horse is MORE loyal than you! Humans are ungrateful to their Lord and they will be a witness to that on the day of judgment. They will not be getting away with all the disobedience and ungratefulness. Allah knows all secrets i

Assalamualikum! In surah Al Kafrioon the theme is to be confident in yourself even if it means that you're different from others. I think this is very important for us Muslims because we live in a western world and we are always copying the West . like 'oh i want to wear those jeans because they are popular or i want to cut my hair to be like that actor.' In this surah Allah is commanding the Prophet to not blend in with the non Muslims. We got our religion and they got theirs. We have CONFIDENCE IN FAITH. Also another thing that really stuck out to me was the lesson of calling people kafir. We must first understand what the word kafir means. Kaffara means to cover something up. In th

In surah Qamar, Allah swt lists out many nations and peoples that came before that were strong and traveled in many lands but Allah still destroyed them. We went through many examples like Nuh’s people who were destroyed for mocking the messenger and Aaad the example of people who were destroyed yet they assumed they could overcome the power of Allah. So the main lesson is DO NOT BE A PEOPLE WHO CAN NOT HEAR THEIR OWN MISTAKES. It is a very powerful lesson because now people are so keen on pointing out the mistakes of others but if it comes to them they are like get away from me!

Assalamualikum Warahmatullah, here is a lesson I found very beneficial through my studying of surah Araaf. In Surah al Araf we see many Prophet stories coming after each other which all connect us back to the essential message of risallah. These stories are the tales of Nuh (as), Hud(as), Salih (as) Lut (as) , and Shuyaib (as) and about how they preached to their people the message of Allah and tried to get them to follow the straight path. But as we see these peoples rejected the messages because of arrogance, wealth, ingratitude, idolizing humans and creation, and not wanting to change their ways. It is very important, now especially, that we learn from these stories and take heed from

EVERYONE LISTEN UP: NO ONE KNOWS WHEN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT IS RIGHT? SO IT COULD BE TOMORROW, IN A YEAR OR IN 5. THE IMPORTANT THING IS TO PREPARE FOR IT SO YOU'RE READY FOR IT BEFORE YOU DIE. REMEMBER, YOUR JUDGMENT STARTS THE MOMENT YOU DIE BECAUSE YOU CAN'T DO ANY MORE DEEDS. Even if your family is very good and pious that doesn’t mean that you are a good person or that Allah is happy with you. Your status in this dunya won’t help you on the day that all the lights are put out and all the seas are boiling! When the mountains are floating in the sky, when the most valuable things are abandoned, when non herd animals are herded together, when dead people are rising from their graves and bei

Assalaamu Alaikum, Thank you for sharing your reflection on the Day of Judgment and the importance of preparing for it. Your reminder about the seriousness of that day and the individual accountability we all hold is thought-provoking. It's crucial to focus on our own deeds and relationship with Allah rather than relying on the righteousness of others. Your reflection serves as a powerful reminder to strive for goodness and righteousness in preparation for the Hereafter. Jazak Allah Khair for your impactful contribution to the community. Salaam everyone! just reflecting here from my QURAN JOURNAL Imam Herbert's class! When surah Fathia opens by saying 'Al hamdo lillahi rabilalameen', hamd doesn’t just mean praise, hamd has two parts. The first word is shukr, gratefulness. The second word is thana praise. It is possible to praise someone who doesn't deserve to be praised and it is important to note here that we are not saying al thana lillah. We are praising Allah because he deserves to be praised. Hamd is praise and gratitude, praise that is deserving. The lam in lillah is actually very powerful in its meaning. Allah isnt saying praise Allah or praise is to Allah. He's saying all praise BELONGS to Allah. Whether you do

Assalamu alikum! here are a few points I found interesting about the huruf muqataat! Allah swt revealed some surahs with unknown letter meanings called Huruf Al- Muqatta'at. These unknown letters are always at the beginning of surahs and they are always stretched. No one knows what they mean exactly but y don’t have a meaning. Their meaning is known only to Allah swt and they have three benefits : 1: They grab the attention of the listener . Allah swt is saying a letter at the beginning of a sura that’s meaning is unknown so that people become surprised and pay attention. 2: They humble the listener . The Arabs were very proud of their language. They wrote long poems and perfected their
