I’ve read these two verses many times, but today they hit me differently for the first time.
I used to read these verses as just a story about the People of the Cave. They were the only addressees, but this time I feel I am an addressee, too. For the People of the Cave, it was a physical cave, but for me, it's a spiritual haven represented in du‘a, prayer, reciting the Quran, and steadfastness, among other acts of devotion.
How can we survive all worldly trials without taking refuge in the 'cave'? How can we shed sadness, worries, negative emotions, and hardships without turning back to this sanctuary found in du‘a, prayer, and other acts of devotion? We enter with a heavy heart, but we emerge with mercy and ease. Truly, Allah (SWT) will spread His mercy over us and provide us with ease in our matters.
