هدى للمتقين الذين يؤمنون بالغيب Quran declares itself guidance for those who take measures to protect themselves, the muttaqeen. Their first description is that they believe in the unseen; a reality that exists right before us that impacts our life just as much as the weather impacts our physical bodies. When I am aware of seen dangers like a street that says right turn only, I will not turn left because I’m being a person of taqwa (protecting myself) from a seen danger. But when Allah says don’t turn a certain way, the dangers of violating that law and the benefits of following are entirely unseen. Miss a meeting at work, the heart feels it. Will I lose my job? Will the boss be mad? I need to have a good excuse. I need to make up for this. Miss a prayer and feel what? Only you can answer that question for yourself and me for myself. Next time you and I see a traffic light that’s red and we stop, let’s remind ourselves there’s an unseen authority that’s telling us to stop from somethings too. And breaking His laws also has consequences. In the unseen and sometimes even in the seen. Ya Allah keep us committed to your guidance and make us the kind of people that protect themselves by their constant heartfelt conviction in the unseen.
