This ayah has such a beautiful adab that Allah teaches us. The believers were instructed not to say 'ra'ina' but to say 'unzurna' instead. When the people would listen to Rasool SAW when he spoke, some at the back who could not hear would say 'Ra'ina', which meant 'could you extend us some courtesy'. Instead Allah told them to say clearly, 'wait for us'. Such a subtle point, but so profound. At first glance you might think what is the difference? In fact the first way sound more grand and shows exaggerated politeness doesnt it? Allah was telling them, and us, to not use ambiguous words which have multiple meanings and could be misused to insult in a very sly and subtle way. Saying 'please consider us too', or 'please show us courtesy' is implying that the Rasool SAW is not being courteous, or not considering them. This word had other meanings as well, it could also mean a 'goat herder'. Basically it was an ambiguous word, with double meanings. There are many ways to insult someone, some do it in a very open way, by criticizing you openly or calling you filthy names. There are others who will insult you using passive aggressiveness. It will be done in such a subtle way, that you will be left confused as to what just happened? You can never catch them on it, you will have no proof for it, what they said seemed so harmless. But the insult reaches its mark. They say what they want to without actually saying it. Double meaning words, passive aggressiveness, taunting, mocking etc are so commonly done, especially within families. And once its done to you, its infectious, you want to strike back in the same manner. Dont do it. Stay away from being passive aggressive. It is a much better adab to be straightforward, or stay silent. Even if what you have to say is true, say it clearly, dont play games. As someone who does tend to get passive aggressive, I am grateful to Allah for this guidance. It is such a subtle point but it makes perfect sense and agrees with fitrah.
