Travelling Everyday people travel from one place to another all over the world. When we look at we can see people who rush for not to miss their plane, train or bus in different places. Have you ever thought why do we travel? We travel for fun, for education, for experience that we haven 't had before, for curiosity to reach the right knowledge.... etc. What is your reason for travelling ? Some people visit places for the fulfilment of their dreams whereas some are inspired deeply by spiritual reasons. We can not give only one answer why people travel. Seeing beautiful places, exploring cultures and cuisines, trying different activities in different locations or travelling for work open new pages for you, widen your perspective and change your point of view to the events. Here a question comes to the mind. How should we travel according to Islam? Are there any criteria for traveling ? If so, what are they?In Islam, each action is done on purpose and it becomes a good deed, reward for the doers. In many verses of the Holy Quran, Allah tells us to travel, look around us and ponder. If we want to take lesson, even a leaf is enough for us. Seeing how Allah created everything from nothing makes us stick to Allah, be aware of Allah. Historical places amaze me so much. Every place has its own story, culture and history, which is carried through its remaining. Maybe these remains are losing their strenght but they are talking to the mankind loudly that this world, dunya is a temporary place for us as renowned Turkish folk poet Yunus Emre in one of his poems would say: 'Wealth owner, property owner, Where is the original owner? Wealth is lie, possessions are a lie, too. Since you have some deceive yourself.... As Quran enlightens everything , Quran tells us how to travel. Let's look at some verses of Quran : Say 'O Prophet'. Travel throughout the land and see how He originated the creation, then Allah will bring it into being one more time. Surely Allah is the most Capable of everything. Ali İmran, 137:Similar situations come to pass before you so travel throughout the land and see the fate of deniers. Allah is the most Merciful amd the most Compassinate. Allah warns people about their bad habits or mistakes. Allah wants us to be in the right path. Allah tests people and warn them. For example, the people Sodom amd Gomorrah were warned against homosexual acts and their cities were destroyed. It happened because moral and spiritual righteousness are valuable to Allah. If a person loses his/her faith, s/he becomes like a beast as a welknown scholar and sheyk Said Nursi says in his book 'The Words ' Belief enables man to attain true humanity, and to acquire a position above all other creatures. This, belief and worship are the most fundamental and important duties of man. Unbelief, by contrast, reduces him to the state of a brutal but extremely impotent beast.' To sum up, travel changes us and is one of life's greatest teacher. It can leave you feeling vulnerable , but it also teaches you a lot about yourself, your life, the world or makes you realize what you 've taken for granted at home, in life....etc and it helps you develop virtues like patience and humility. One of the greatest lessons you'll learn through travel is that we need very little to be happy. And it is not cars, phones or clothes that make us happy. Every moment of life is a present which was given by Allah so be happy even from a little thing. The key for the happiness is submission to the Lord of Lords and loving the Creator and the creations. This is the best solution. Life is short and the world is a temporary place.
