In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Kind, Today, I returned back to my current reading - Captured thoughts by Imam Ibn Jawzi RA (Dar As Sunnah Publishers). Simultaneously, I continued with my reading and reflecting of the Qur’an and reached Ayah 155 from Surah Al Baqara. I would like to share the following that Imam Jawzi RA wrote: 'I heard a person whom I used to think was pious saying during his final nights (on earth) ‘My Lord is being unjust to me!’ Since then I have been worried and keen on acquiring enough, ammunition to pass that inevitable day. And how would I not be like that when it was reported that at the moment of death, the devil tells his companion ‘focus on (deviating) this dying man for after he passes away, you will not then have power over him!.' (Page 346-7). When a person who is engaged with the study of the Qur’an they will come to a clear conclusion that trials and tribulations are a part of life. Tests will distinguish the true believers. Trials will come, so we must be prepared on how we will handle them. We must be on guard, against our enemy right until our last breath. It is essential that we should understand better who is the One who is testing us. He is the Most Merciful, the One who sustained us in the wombs of our mothers, it was not our mothers who sustained us, He sustains the mother and the child, He sustains the entire Creation. Everything that occurs is by His Wisdom and Might. Always, thinking the best about Allah, helps us exercise true patience. Always His decree is just. In Islam, I realise that the believer cannot afford to be negative, but rather they always draw hope and positivity despite the difficulty. This reminds me of the following Hadith ul Qurdsi: On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Allah the Almighty said: I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a cubit, and if he draws near to Me a cubit, I draw near to him a fathom. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed. Another possible rendering of the Arabic is: 'I am as My servant expects Me to be'. The meaning is that forgiveness and acceptance of repentance by the Almighty is subject to His servant truly believing that He is forgiving and merciful. However, not to accompany such belief with right action would be to mock the Almighty. It was related by al-Buhkari (also by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn-Majah). (Reference

). May we always have the best thoughts about Allah and exercise hope and reliance upon Him right up until our last breath. Allahumma ameen.
