In this age of social media, self-centeredness, and the normalization of seeking praise for any minor actions of good done, this surah reminds us how Allah SWT expects us to behave. After the Prophet PBUH was persecuted, exiled from his hometown, and lost many love ones in his journey back to Makkah. He finally enters Makkah and the leaders of the town surrender without a fight. In that moment, the typical modern reaction would be to celebrate and even ridicule your former oppressors. But here Allah SWT teaches us and reminds us the proper way of reacting to any good, which is to turn back to Him, thank Him, glorify Him and seek refuge in Him. This helps us stay grounded, humbled, and prevent our ego from being unchecked.

Who were the leaders of the town that surrendered in this verse ? Nonetheless, wonderful reflection. Very true that these days people expect praise for the smallest of actions. We should learn from the prophet PBUH on how to handle our successes. Rather than expecting praise from the masses we should focus our attention to God and thank Him for our success because without him we would not have succeeded. And the emphasis on how in today's age ridiculing those whom we are against has become all too common we should learn from the prophet on how to handle those who we are against or are against us. Ridiculing is not the answer.
