There’s a certain brilliance in the old saying: 'Stop and smell the roses' To slow down, to notice the world around you, and to realize that the creator of such beauty is the source of all beauty. And roses are - like many other flowers - pretty, full of color, life, and they smell lovely!

But not ALL flowers are held in such high regard. Some hold a status far below the beauty of roses, tulips, and other pretty blossoms… Some are in fact considered pesky weeds! Many of us go great lengths to remove them from our yards, hoping for that nice clean lawn.

Imagine for a second, someone you loved dearly, collected these ‘ugly’ flowers, tied them up in a nice bunch, and gave them to you as a gift. Those same weeds we pulled out and tried to get rid of are now elevated to a fancy pretty bouquet status

Think about what made the difference?

The pure love with which they were picked. The good intention behind picking them, and the love you have for that person In moments like these, we are reminded that sometimes the smallest of things take up the most room in our hearts. Allah swt says:

إِنَّ هَٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا (٢٢) ٧٦-الانسان ˹And they will be told,˺ 'All this is surely a reward for you. Your striving has been appreciated.' (76:22)

Think of our deeds...the small ones, the ones that may seem... insignificant, flawed even.

How will we present our deeds to Allah swt, as imperfect as they are? How can we hope that He will honor us, accept our attempted good deeds, and elevate them despite our shortcomings?

Having hope in Allah’s acceptance is also a thing of beauty. May Allah give us the ability to perform our duties with love and pure intentions. May He love us more than any love we have ever felt for anyone. May He accept from us our humble and imperfect efforts and elevate them to a status that is pleasing to Him.

May we always do things for Him and in service of others, with love.

This is a great analogy to understand the name of Allah , الشكور . Since we're already talking flowers , think of the salawaat as flowers.

If you pick it at the right time , you get the best flower. Too late and it will still be a flower but withered away.

If we pray on time , we will present to Allah the best prayer, after that of course الشكور will accept it.
