'Read your record. You ˹alone˺ are sufficient this Day to take account of yourself!' Each one of us in every moment is an author of our own book. Every motion, action, and intention is being written, journaled, recorded, and transcribed.  Imagine for a moment you are now at the scene, standing before Allah, about to receive your records, a book that will contain nano-precise logs more precisely recorded than your phone activity log. And now imagine this being given to you and presented before Allah,  Think back to the moments in which you and I fell short in observing Allah. Maybe it was neglecting our prayers or abusing someone, or a bad habit that we did not care to stop. How would we feel when we see the visible records of this mentioned in detail, and worst of all, we will be ordered to read this book ourselves? Will your situation be like a criminal convict being asked to read the record of his own crimes or a stellar student who is asked to read his award-winning essay? Imagine how the heedless and neglectful would hope to have these pages ripped out so as to never be questioned on it. How much would we pray and plead that our Creator should ignore the embarrassing and incrimiating contents of this book? What would you ransom to have your records wiped clean? What would you want taking out, and what would you want leaving in? Now is the time to author that book carefully and keep in the chapters that will create your success story, and now is the time to edit and clean up the things you want removing before it is too late and a published copy is given to you on the Day of Judgement. Next time you feel a sense of heedlessness and you feel like you are slipping into sin, let this verse stop you in your tracks:   'Read your record. You ˹alone˺ are sufficient this Day to take account of yourself.'
