Every Friday, we hear the khateebs recite the verse from Surah Al-Imran (3:102): *يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِۦ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ* . This verse reminds us to live every moment in submission to Allah ﷻ until our last breath. But are we truly living up to this command? Consider this example: when we book a flight, we check the schedules, select the flights, and enter our payment details. However, the ticket isn’t issued until we check the box agreeing to the terms and conditions. Only then can we *'Submit,'* and our ticket is issued. The same applies to our journey to Paradise. Allah ﷻ has given us the Quran as our terms and conditions. We cannot pick and choose what to follow; *we cannot selectively obey, for instance, by performing salaah, fasting, Hajj, and giving zakat, but then cheating in financial dealings, making false claims, accusing without evidence, neglecting mahar, manipulating inheritance laws, refusing to forgive our relatives and friends, envying and being jealous, spreading rumors or fake news, and showing a difference between our words and actions.* *Full submission is required, and that is what it means to be a Muslim.* Let us restart by reconnecting with the Quran, learning step by step, and living by it fully, Insha'Allah. The path to Jannah is clear: submitting ourselves entirely to Allah ﷻ. May Allah ﷻ guide us, forgive us, and grant us the strength to live as true Muslims. Peace, blessings, and comfort be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammed ﷺ.
