According to Merriam-Webster, willpower is the capacity to control one's actions, emotions, or impulses. It can also refer to the ability to control one's thoughts.Similarly, according to the great lexicologist Imam Al-Asfahani, he defines it as; 'Al-'Azimah (Determination): It is the resolve of the heart to firmly commit to carrying out a matter: (Al-Mufradat)  Recently, the headlines flooded the social media platforms telling us of a world famous Muslim celebrity, who was escorted off the plane, for what appeared to be a racially motivated incident. Although the situation is somewhat opaque, it was clear that the Muslim, reacted with dignity, respect and complied with what was requested of him. The good etiquette displayed by this Muslim, invited me to make dua for him, for it takes a true fighter to wrestle with one's ego, to restrain and abate the negative emotions in the heat of the moment, to prevent what  otherwise would have become a highly inflammable situation.  Oftentimes, we may face similar situations at the airport, or other places where we are 'randomly' selected for security screening and profiled, and we can lose our patience. But sometimes our carefully deliberated response to these provocations, could set an impressive tone to the doubters and haters, and that is more impactful as a message, than lashing out. It does not mean accepting abuse, or to become passive, rather it means to react in a manner which shows our willpower to present our higher values, such as tolerance and forgiveness. This is the antidote to hatred and enmity. After this incident, it became clear that people around the world were highly critical of the airliner, and praised the Muslim celebrity for his dignified demeanour and response.  Good and evil cannot be equal. Respond ˹to evil˺ with what is best, then the one you are in a feud with will be like a close friend.(41:34) But this cannot be attained except by those who are patient and who are truly fortunate. (41:35) And whoever endures patiently and forgives—surely this is a resolve to aspire to. (42:43)

Jazakumullah Khairan for sharing Sheikh..Truly a beautiful example that you've highlighted here. I saw the video and was really impressed with how calm he was..Masha Allah. So much for me to learn here in how I deal with people in the different environments in which I operate. It's not a coincidence that I'm reading this today. May Allah bless us with the best values, character and manners most pleasing to Him.
