A few days ago, I was at a drive-through car wash. The line was long, which gave me an extra minute to reflect. For the first time, I really read the sign next to the tunnel: Follow the instructions Shift to Neutral (N) Feet off Pedals Hands off Steering Deactivate Auto Sensors Subhan Allah. It immediately reminded me of Ayat 2 and 3 from Surat At-Talaq. Isn’t this exactly what we are asked to do when we enter the tunnels of life? Follow the instructions of Allah, for He says: “And whoever attains Taqwa and fears Allah, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect.” (ومن يتق الله يجعل له مخرجا ويرزقه من حيث لا يحتسب) Shift to neutral; return to your Fitrah and leave it to Allah “And whoever relies upon Allah, then He is sufficient for him.” (ومن يتوكل على الله فهو حسبه) Feet off the pedals and hands off the wheel; don’t resist, don’t try to change the speed of the process, and don’t stray. “Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose.” (إن الله بالغ أمره) Deactivate auto sensors; don’t panic. “Allah has set a measure for all things.” (قد جعل الله لكل شيء قدرا) I was wondering: Do we sometimes trust systems more than we trust Allah? May Allah forgive us.. Every tunnel in life feels dark while you’re inside it. You may not see the exit because of the noise, the pressure, or the confusion, but you will come out. Pay attention to the signs, and you often come out spiritually cleaner and better than when you entered, In Shaa Allah.
