One of the beautiful things about Quran is the more you study it the more you enjoy reading it. In these two verses Allah mentioned two words and I always thought they mean the same, these two words are (Stature : جسم) as in the first verse, and (Moulded: جسدا) as in the second verse, Chapter 2 : Al-Baqara, Verse: 247 From what I heard from a Sheikh that the word (جِسْمِ) can be called only for something that has a soul like in this case it was mentioned about a person. Chapter 20 : Taa-Haa, Verse: 88 However the word (جَسَدْ) can be called only for something that doesn’t have a soul, such as the second Aya where is talking about an idol of a calf which it wasn’t a living calf, and there are some other verses that talked about these two words! Chapter 10 : Yunus, Verse: 92 But someone may think why did Allah used the word (Corpse: بدنك) instead of one of the first two words? And the Sheikh said that if Allah used the word (جسم) after Pharaoh died it won’t be correct because the word (جسم) only can be called to a living things but here the soul is out of the body and the body remain, and it won’t be correct to call it (جسد) because Pharaoh had a soul before he died and this word can be called only for things that doesn’t have/had soul in it, So Allah brought a new word which is (بَدَنِكْ) and this word can be called for bodies after leaving the soul.
