**“Surely, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease.”** — **Surah Ash-Sharh [94:5–6]**
These two verses are among the most comforting promises in the entire Qur’an. Allah repeats the same message twice:
**“Surely, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease.”**
But there is something important to understand here.
In Arabic, when the word **“ال” (Al)** is added to a noun, it becomes specific, meaning it becomes a **definite noun (Ism Ma‘rifah)**.
In both verses, the same word is repeated:
**الْعُسْرِ → الْعُسْرِ**
Meaning: **the hardship** — the same specific hardship is being re
...**وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَك** **“And We removed from you your burden.”**
In this verse, Allah Almighty is addressing the Prophet ﷺ, telling him that He has lifted that burden from his blessed chest.
If we reflect on the word **“burden,”** it can refer to the immense responsibilities that were placed upon the Prophet ﷺ—the great responsibility of receiving revelation, the deep concern he carried for his people, and the trials and difficulties he faced while conveying the message of Allah.
The order of these verses is worth reflecting upon. First, Allah mentions the expansion of the Prophet’s ﷺ chest, and then He mentions the removal of the burden.
There is a profound lesson in this.

...Surah Ash-Sharh — Verse 1
**أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ**
**“Have We not expanded for you, [O Prophet], your chest?”** — *Surah Ash-Sharh (94:1)*
Surah Ash-Sharh begins with a question whose answer is already known:
**“Have We not expanded your chest for you?”**
Allah reminds His Messenger ﷺ of one of His greatest blessings: **the expansion and strengthening of his heart.** Scholars explain that this includes patience, guidance, certainty, faith, wisdom, and the strength to carry the great responsibility of Prophethood.
Allah says:
**“So whoever Allah wills to guide, He opens their heart to Islam. And whoever He wills to leave astray, He makes their chest tight and constricted, as t
...In the Name of Allah — A Reflection
Bismillah means “In the name of Allah.” It reminds us that every good beginning should start with His name, because He is our Creator and the One who has power over all things.
Just as a person may be known through their family name, we too belong to Allah, the One who created us. Therefore, beginning our actions with His name is a reminder of where we come from and upon Whom we truly depend.
When we begin something by saying Bismillah, we acknowledge that success does not come from our strength alone. Allah creates the means, opens the doors, and sends people to help us. Sometimes, after completing a task, we thank the person who helped us and say, “Th
